When you make the decision to bring your practice to the United States, however, you may soon find yourself overwhelmed by questions.

Our Arts & Entertainment Team Is Ready to Guide You Through Every Step of the Process

McEntee Law Group’s experienced Arts & Entertainment attorneys are ready to walk you through these questions and more. Whether you’re applying for U.S.-based work for the first time, extending your stay, or coming back after time away, our efficient and knowledgeable team can work with you to get the visa you need.

Immigration Options for Artists & Entertainers:

O-1B Visas

For individuals with extraordinary ability in the arts seeking temporary work in the U.S.

The O-1B visa is an incredible but oft-misunderstood visa option. Though its rigorous criteria ask that you show significant recognition for your ability in the arts, “the arts” is not actually defined by USCIS. Our attorneys have had the fortune of assisting a laundry list of exciting creatives in applying for O-1B visas, including musicians, painters and other visual artists, dancers, comedians, chefs, music producers, event producers, cinematographers, architects, content creators, marketing professionals, and more.

P-3 Visas

For member of an Internationally Recognized Entertainment Group.

P visas in general are a broad category of entertainment-related visas meant for short-term employment in the United States. With up to 1 year of validity, the P-1B visa is specific to internationally recognized entertainment groups. This might be the visa for you if your band is going on tour, or if your theatre troupe is running a show. There are even special provisions for circus performers!

P-3 Visas

For artists or entertainers coming to the U.S. to participate in culturally unique programs.

The P-3 visa, like the P-1B, is a short-term visa with a validity of up to 1 year. If your artistic practice is steeped in cultural tradition, you might just qualify. Whether you’re an Irish dancer or part of a Mariachi band, the P-3 visa allows you to enter the United Sates to participate in a cultural event that furthers the understanding or development of your culturally unique art form. Teaching and coaching your art form are also allowed, making the P-3 a wonderful option for those looking to advance in their career in another country while embracing their heritage.

Green Cards

For arts and entertainment professionals seeking permanent residence.

The United States is undoubtedly a global hub of art of all kinds, and it’s easy to see why. If you’ve decided that you want to contribute to that reputation in the long-term, ask about your green card options! Certain arts and entertainment professionals may be eligible for the EB-1A or EB-2 permanent residence pathways. These cases take a long time to prepare and can take a long time for USCIS to adjudicate, meaning that it’s never too early to start the process of investing in your future.
